Factors to Consider When Talking to Car Dealers in NJ about a Car for Your Teenager

One of the most exciting things for our New Jersey Toyota dealership is when we see parents walking around our lots with their teenager looking for a starter car. It’s not only a thrill to have the opportunity to lock in a customer for life through our superior service, but it’s also awesome to see parents who are helping their children with such an important decision. We understand how concerned parents are with the safety of their loved ones. Today, we will take a look at the factors you should be considering to ensure you get a vehicle you can feel comfortable with your teenager driving.

Safety – Obviously, the most important feature in a car for a teen driver is safety. It’s the main reason people turn to New Jersey Toyota dealers. There are plenty of options from Toyota that offer superior safety in their class. Be sure to ask your dealer about the safety of both new and used cars. The nice thing is you don’t have to sacrifice style for safety. Some of our mid-sized offerings have five star safety ratings and modern designs.

Color – To keep with the safety theme, be sure to consider the color of the vehicle. Yellow cars provide more safety than any other color simply because they are the easiest to see. It’s why school buses are yellow. You certainly don’t have to choose yellow as the color of the vehicle for your teenager, but know that the brighter the shade of the color, the less likely an accident is to occur. Red offers a great alternative to yellow and just about the same safety features.

Fuel Efficiency – It’s natural for teenagers to want the largest SUV on the lot. They are awesome cars and they certainly offered the desired safety. The only problem is some SUVs won’t provide the fuel economy parents are looking for.  There are plenty of ways to compromise on an issue like this and our Toyota dealers are more than happy to discuss all options. Definitely consider the Rav-4 as it provides the look of an SUV with the fuel economy of a mid-sized vehicle.

Bluetooth Technology – One of the biggest causes for accidents amongst teen drivers is cellphone usage. Talk to your dealer about vehicles that come with Bluetooth technology. As much as parents want their children to stay off the phone entirely and focus on the road, Bluetooth technology provides a way for teenagers to focus on driving and still talk to their friends.

Once you have the vehicle or even before, set some ground rules with your teenagers. It’s important that they understand how many people are permitted by NJ law to ride along with them. It’s also important for them to understand that texting and driving is a great way to lose driving privileges.  When you take all of these factors into account, you can be sure of a happy experience with your Toyota before and after you visit our Rt. 22 Toyota dealer.

3 Strange Auto Insurance "Facts" that People Believe

After weeks of searching for the best Toyota New Jersey dealers, you've finally found the car of your dreams. You're ready to drive off of the lot and show off your latest big purchase, but first you have to be insured. New Jersey is one of the few states that require some form of insurance. When you've been selling Toyotas and other high quality cars in a state that requires car insurance, you're bound to hear a few interesting "facts" on the subject from your customers. Car insurance can get a little complicated, and myths about it are surprisingly common. The next time you hear somebody spouting any of these common car insurance myths as fact, do them a favor and enlighten them.

"Fact" #1: The color of the car you drive will affect your insurance rates

"____ colored cars are targeted by thieves, so insurance companies will charge people more to cover the vehicles."

"_____ colored cars are linked to aggressive driving, so most insurance companies will increase their rates for those colored cars."

We've heard so many variations of those past two sentences, but repeating them doesn't make them any truer. A lot of factors go into determining the cost of your auto insurance coverage. Your driving record will affect your rates, the make and model of your vehicle will affect those rates, even the area you live in will affect your rates. Your car color, however, will affect your insurance rates about as much as your hair color would.

"Fact" #2: Comprehensive coverage will cover any and all kinds of car damage

Most people choose a combination of comprehensive and collision insurance to ensure that their car will be covered in case of an accident. But believing that these policies will cover all damage is just setting yourself up for disappointment. For instance, a comprehensive insurance policy may protect your car from weather damage like hail or strong winds, but may not help if your car is damaged by debris. Make sure to read the fine print on every policy you consider, since it should very specifically outline the instances in which your vehicle will be covered, and the ones in which it won't.

"Fact" #3:  If other people drive my car, their insurance company will cover them in case of an accident

In the vast majority of states, the auto insurance policy that protects the vehicle is considered the primary insurance. That means that in the event of an accident, the car owner's insurance company will have to pay for any damages that occur because of an accident. This is a good reason to only let people you trust borrow your car. If they cause an accident, it's most likely going to be your rates and coverage that suffer.

Toyota New Jersey Dealers Help Decide What Color is Your Color

Choosing the best car for you is not an easy decision, especially with so many factors to consider. While the safety and gas mileage may be the most important part of your decision making process, the color of your car matters too. Easily the most visible aspect of your vehicle's appearance, car color is where you get to express your personality. But how do you choose a car color? Here are some tips from your local Toyota New Jersey dealers:

Decide What Kind of Car You Want.

First, decide what type of vehicle you want and then look through the available models for a color that suits you. If you want an SUV, see which one meets your requirements and comes in the color you love.

If the Car You Want Isn't on the Lot, Ask Us to Order It.

Your Toyota New Jersey dealers can order you the car you want in any of the available shades for that model, even if it's not on the lot. Ordering the vehicle doesn't cost extra money so the only drawback is that you may have to wait a little longer to get your car.

Pick a Color That Suits Your Personality

Depending on the model car you are interested in, you may have some unique options. Greens and oranges are becoming more popular nowadays as people search for cars with colors that pop! Earth tones like browns and tans are great for showing some color without all the flashiness.

If you aren't interested in attracting attention with your car, you could always go for the basic white, black or silver. Remember when you buy a white car that it can get dirty pretty quickly, so you'll need to clean it a lot, but black cars gets warm in the summer. Silver is a happy medium for both of those reasons and a classic, as the sea of silver cars parked at the mall can attest to.

When you visit your Toyota New Jersey dealers, you'll have lots of car color options to choose from that will suit your needs or personality. Your Toyota New Jersey dealers remind you that Toyota's last for a long time, so pick a color you won't mine seeing every day for years to come.
